Blood lipids are fats circulating in your bloodstream. A standard panel usually includes total cholesterol, LDL (“bad”), HDL (“good”), and triglycerides. Together they help estimate cardiovascular risk — especially when combined with blood pressure, glucose, smoking status, and family history.
Emphasise vegetables, fibre-rich carbs, nuts, seeds, olive oil, and oily fish. Dial down saturated fat from processed meats and many packaged foods, and watch sugary drinks that drive triglycerides. No single “superfood” replaces an overall pattern.
Ask your GP how often you should retest and what targets fit your age and history. Medication (including statins) can be appropriate — lifestyle still matters alongside any prescription.
